Excellent 4th year externship. located 30 miles south of Fort Worth in Alvarado, Texas. We are a large, 12 doctor animal clinic (50/50) with a long history of successful externships. You will be able to see a true mixed animal clinic, perform a few surgeries, assist with after hours, go on farm calls, etc. We try to have fun and help you gain experience and confidence. We provide an apartment and $75.00 a week. Not sure you want to practice large animal medicine? Here, you will have the freedom to experience all aspects of a mixed animal practice. As a mixed veterinary practice, our goal is to be the best equine, food animal, and small animal hospital that we can be. We are very well-euipped with sonograms, digital x-ray, endoscopy, advanced small animal orthopedics, in-house lab, power floats, 4 ambulatory trucks, and a therapeutic laser. Our facilities include a hydraulic cattle chute, equine surgery suite/table, fully computerized 10,000 sq. ft. small animal hospital, and separate 6,000 sq. ft. equine hospital with 16 stalls and 6 sets of stocks. While most of our externs are from Texas, we have had students from Veterinary schools in Oklahoma, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, Canada, Berlin and Hamburg, Germany. To date, we have hosted over 60 externs in the last 11 years. We truly enjoy having students and look forward to talking with you.
